Impact Assessment at Nuvocargo: Enhancing Performance and Rewards
At Nuvocargo, we believe in the power of feedback (push back, then forward) and in rewarding our hardworking Nuvos who make an outstanding impact. Last June, we conducted our first Impact Assessment of 2024. This performance cycle provided specific and actionable feedback and feedforward, leading to compensation adjustments and promotions. In this blog post, we explore Nuvocargo's philosophy of developing, recognizing, and rewarding our incredible team, while cultivating a culture of appreciation and excellence.
Impact Assessment
In every impact assessment, Nuvocargo meticulously evaluates each Nuvo's performance through two critical lenses: What they have achieved and How they have made an impact.
The What aspect focuses on measuring the significance of their accomplishments against the expectations of their role. This assessment highlights the tangible outcomes of their efforts in relation to the goals set in collaboration with their manager.
The How aspect examines how they have embodied our values and competencies in achieving their objectives. This evaluation provides insight into the methodologies and approaches they employ in their daily work.
It is essential for Nuvos to conduct self-assessments to reflect on their impact over the past six months. This process enables Nuvos and their managers to discuss any discrepancies, ensuring alignment on performance expectations, areas of excellence, and development opportunities for the upcoming cycle.
To ensure fairness and transparency, we implement a calibration process in which the Nuvo's manager collaborates with others to validate scores and ensure they accurately reflect the actual impact achieved. This process guarantees equal treatment across different teams and functions, promoting fairness and consistency throughout the organization.
We use a rating scale from level 1 to level 5 to measure both the What and the How.
Pay for Performance
We believe in recognizing Nuvos who have made an outsized impact with additional rewards. To determine the Pay for Performance rewards, we carefully analyzed labor market trends in both Mexico and the U.S. This analysis allowed us to determine the appropriate increase for each Nuvo based on their Impact Assessment results, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the program.
Promotion Program
We are thrilled to announce that five of our Nuvos have achieved remarkable success and earned well-deserved promotions. Promotions were evaluated based on two key factors:
- Performance: The Nuvo must consistently exceed expectations.
- Business Case: There must be a clear ROI for the business, with a need for the role to have an increased scope and impact.
